常に進化を求めるあまり、仕事が難しくなりすぎているのかと自問する日々。技術の継承に取り組む社員の満足度を上げたい一方で、会社が万人受けするわけではないとも感じています。コンプライアンスに気をつけつつ、昭和臭さも前面に出してがんばっています。

Its strengths are 70 years of inherited cable-logging expertise and a deep sense of gratitude!
Located in a renowned timber-producing area adjacent to Yoshino, Kawaguchiya purchases standing cedar and cypress trees grown by forest owners, harvests them, and sells the logs as a timber producer.
Using an endless-tyler cable system, the company sometimes operates across spans of up to 1,200 meters and harvests from areas larger than 10 hectares. By combining inherited know-how with advanced forestry machinery, it continues to improve productivity even on steep terrain.

Once a tree is cut, there is no going back. The team repeatedly walks the mountain and carefully plans every step until it finds the best approach for safety, efficiency, quality, and market conditions.

High-Quality Logs!
Whole trees, including their branches, are transported by cable to the landing, where they can be processed under controlled conditions. The team checks carefully for bends and decay, then prepares each log to match customer requirements.

What challenges are you facing now?
Because we are always striving to improve, I sometimes wonder whether we are making the work too complex. I want to increase the satisfaction of employees who are learning and carrying on our techniques, while recognizing that our company may not appeal to everyone. We stay mindful of compliance, but we are also proud to preserve some of our old-school Showa-era character.
What have you gained from Mokuseiren?
As my network of colleagues grew, I became more positive about my work. I have come to appreciate the value of doing business face to face. By incorporating feedback from sawmills into our log processing, I enjoy working with a specific person in mind and wondering whether the result will make them happy.
